Share Your Table

Let’s work together, because knowing your neighbor starts with conversation.

What is a Shared Table?

A Shared Table is a facilitated conversation that invites people to explore a topic affecting San Antonio by listening to the stories and perspectives of their neighbors with different lived experiences.

Host your own Shared Table

Shared Tables can be hosted among people who already know one another, such as teams, boards, congregations, or friend groups, or among people meeting for the first time. You do not need to be a skilled facilitator or have extensive knowledge of the issues. You only need to take the first step—invite.

Our Intentions

To cultivate trust that crosses the economic divides in our city

To create a more whole narrative of our city that can inspire transformation and repair

Here’s the basics

Gather around the table.
When we sit down to share a meal, we open the door to connection. Whether the food is simple or elaborate, a shared table creates community. Send out an invitation, welcome neighbors into an approachable setting, and break bread together.
Learn.

Our resources draw from San Antonio’s history and are designed to help neighbors better understand the relational and economic landscape of our city. Pick a resource, stream the video, and dive into learning together. You don’t need to have extensive knowledge of the topic, just the willingness to take the first step and invite others to learn with you.

Discuss.

Follow the Discussion Guide to pose questions to the group and help shape the conversation. We believe honest conversations help us understand what life is like for all our neighbors in San Antonio. As a host, your role is to guide the conversation, ensuring each voice is heard and making space for everyone to share from their experience.

Reflect.

Each resource includes a reflection guide to help us consider how the topic shapes our current lived realities. By reflecting, listening, and learning from one another, we take meaningful steps toward bridging the divides that have shaped our city for far too long.

Prepare for conversation.

Each topic includes its own discussion guide, with questions designed to spark reflection and support your role as a facilitator. In addition, a comprehensive Facilitation Guide provides guidance on fostering productive and inclusive conversations.
